Finding balance in the unpredictability of life

Life as we know it is a balancing act, especially right now in this crazy time we’re living in. Our environment is causing more and more people to experience bouts of rollercoaster moods from lows filled with fear, anxiety and depression, to highs of happiness and gratitude. The unpredictability of life and the current crisis we’re navigating through has made it unimaginably hard at times to maintain feeling emotionally safe and secure. In spite of life's amplified uncertainty we are facing, there is a way you can find balance.

Take advantage of what you can control

We often put so much energy into controlling the environment and other people’s business around us that we leave no time for our own, causing us to feel worse and more unfulfilled than when we started -- and typically.. nothing changes! But, wait! There’s a silver lining: focus on what you can control, it will help you stay present and take things day by day, instead of worrying about the future.

Life is unpredictable, but we can control how we respond to it with our attitude, actions and effort – these few things are what we have total power over in life, so it's time to take advantage of it. Some examples of these three pillars include your breath, schedule, sleep, diet, physical activity, social life, how you treat others, work ethic, body language, gratitude and self-talk.

Here's what you can do to improve your attitude, efforts and actions

FOCUS ON YOUR WELLNESS

  • Meditate
  • Drink water
  • Maintain a healthy diet 
  • Get 7+ hours of sleep every night
  • Carve out self-care days just for you
  • Exercise daily (even if all you have is 20 minutes)
  • Power off your phone and computer a few hours before bed 
  • Avoid watching or listening to things that bring you down such as the news 

FOCUS ON YOUR MINDSET

  • Help someone in need 
  • Read one chapter of a book each night
  • Practice a positive mindset, persistence is key
  • Speak highly about yourself and to yourself  
  • Listen to podcast on a topic that inspires you

These practices will grant you more balance and certainty, thereby helping you find happiness and beauty in this crazy life. Knowledge is power, so use this information to your advantage by refocusing your energy on the things you can control, because life is too precious to waste away your energy on things out of your control!
