Do UFOs pose a risk to our planet?

The Pentagon finally confirms the existence of UFOs.. but will this impact our precious planet?

Unidentified flying object (UFO) is any aerial phenomenon that cannot immediately be identified or explained. Most UFOs are identified on investigation as conventional objects or phenomena. The term is widely used for claimed observations of extraterrestrial spacecraft. In more recent news however, the Pentagon not only released actual footage of UFOs, describe as “off-world vehicles not made on this earth,” but additionally built a new task force to help further investigate UFOs -- known as the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, or UAPTF. In a press release, the department said it wanted to "clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real” since this footage was originally leaked back in 2017.

So what does this mean for us now?

Are UFOs a threat to us? Are aliens real too? Maybe humans and animals aren’t the only living beings in the universe after all? There are so many questions still to be answered, and so much more to discover and learn. The truth is we are barely scraping the surface with this newly confirmed footage of unidentified aerial phenomena. Officials stated that UFOs remain “identified” because they still don’t know or understand what these objects really are.

Astrophysicist at the University of Toronto Ilana MacDonald department of astronomy, had something to say about what many of us were probably thinking.. Aliens must be real now! MacDonald told CBC News that UFOs are “very unlikely” to be the product of aliens. She also added “if an alien ship were to visit earth we’d most likely see it coming” and to remember that “extraordinary claims come require extraordinary evidence!” But hey, don’t let that stop you from believing, because it also hasn’t been proven otherwise.

There’s certainly no denying that different parts of the world like the United States have an extreme fascination with unidentified flying objects, as many sightings have been reported throughout the centuries that extend far beyond America.

Do UFOs pose a risk to us?

That is something we are still trying to prove, but if you look back in time based on various sightings, those who claim to have seen or come in contact with UFOs hardly reported feeling or being in danger. However, one possibility is that they represent technology deployed by a hostile human source, so it's impossible to say for sure that UFOs are harmless.

Elizondo, former head of a top-secret U.S. government agency tasked with investigating UFOs, recently spoke out to Live Science on the risk of UFOs, "I think we're at the point now where we're beyond reasonable doubt that these things exist," Elizondo said. "We know they're there — we have some of the greatest technology in the world that has confirmed their existence." But where do these objects come from, what are their capabilities and what are the intentions of whoever may have sent them?

Overall, I think It’s safe to say that at this point in time UFOs don’t seem to pose a risk to our planet, however there is still much more to discover and that anything is possible! Hasn’t 2020 been the year to teach us that? All jokes aside, we can now confirm the existence of UFOs, maybe aliens are next!
