How poor eating habits can affect your energy field

As you may know, eating a poor diet that is low in vital nutrients can be damaging to your body, but have you ever thought what impact it may be having on your body beyond its physical means? 

I’m talking about beyond what the eyes can see, where the physical and consciousness meet, better known as your chakras. The internal powerhouse of spinning energy that flows freely through our body, which help keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance.

And eating toxic foods are one of the ways that can negatively impact your chakras, throwing the body completely off balance! This can be associated with an array of symptoms, after all “you are what you eat!”

Common foods that may actually be toxic 

There are certain types of foods that aren’t great for your health like refined sugars, fried foods and trans fats  for example, especially in large quantities! Eating these frightening foods puts you at higher risk for problems like weight gain, diabetes and can even lead to the development of many diseases if not improved. 

What's worse than these frightening foods alone is how they’re being grown and handled before they make it to our mouths -- eek! The foods and toxins associated with the growing and packaging process can in fact shift your entire body off balance, therefore blocking your chakras causing a handful of issues within your spiritual, mental, emotional and physical means.

Here’s what you need to look out for = frightening foods that are primarily found within the Standard American Diet or as I like to call it -- the “SAD” diet! Continuous intake of these SAD foods listed below are shown to increase leptin levels, overall fat mass, and inflammation while reducing lean body mass and bone density in addition to many other negative factors.

  • Highly processed foods

    • cured meats, cheese, cookies, cereals, chips, white bread, frozen meals 

  • Refined sugars/added sugars/high fructose corn syrup

    • packaged cereal, cookies, granola bars, cakes, muffins, white breads, sauces, dips, yogurt, concentrated juice and energy drinks  

  • Packaged foods

    • pasta, boxed noodle meals, instant oatmeal, frozen meals, hot dogs, chips     

  • Trans and saturated fats

    • deep fried foods, fatty meats, packaged pastries, pies, cookies 

  • High sodium foods

    • processed meats, canned entrees, salted nuts, frozen pizza   

Avoid consuming these toxins by following three simple steps:

  1. Look for BPA free on all your packaged products and plastics

  2. Purchase organic and non-gmo foods

  3. Choose labels that say certified or USDA “organic”, “grass-fed”, “humane”

How do these foods and toxins negatively impact your energy field?

Think of the phrase “you are what you eat” -- now imagine you eat a nutritious meal, full of colourful whole foods. You probably feel pretty great right? Energized, satiated and happy. That’s exactly how eating should make you feel, and our chakras love it when we eat colourful whole foods, especially raw. It’s part of what keeps the energy balanced and flowing. 

Now imagine you eat a greasy, heavy meal filled with lots of carbs and red meat. You probably feel uncomfortably full, low energy, sluggish, and maybe even bloated? That’s exactly how food should not make you feel! The temporary impact this has on your body can raise blood sugar, inflammation, cholesterol, blood pressure and even be taxing on the kidneys and liver. If repeated daily, these effects could become more serious if not balanced with a nutritious, healthy diet. These chronic effects can also block your chakras, resulting in lower energy and immunity, poor sleep, increased stress, anxiety and the like.

Fortunately there are simple ways you can incorporate healthy changes in your diet and lifestyle that will benefit your overall health and rebalance your chakras, bringing you peace and harmony inside and out!

Incorporating whole foods that are all the colours of the rainbow is a great way to start! One of the best tips I can offer to improve your diet sustainably is by slowly adding in these healthy foods listed below and to slowly reduce your frightening foods intake, rather than going cold turkey with the bad stuff -- remember slow and steady wins the race!

  • Dark berries: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries

  • Leafy greens: kale, spinach, arugula, bok choy, broccoli

  • Root vegetables: red beets, carrots, yams 

  • Detoxifying foods: lemons, ginger, garlic, apple cider vinegar, matcha green tea, spirulina, raw local honey, cinnamon

If you are struggling with any of the symptoms mentioned, it could be beneficial to look inward and deal with the root problem by treating the body as a whole. Starting with healthy and rich detoxifying non-gmo foods and cutting down on unnecessary toxins!
