Do we all have a purpose?

If you ask Google it will tell you we all have one purpose: survival. Next to survival is reproduction, but there has to be more to life than just getting by and making babies, right?

Well beyond basic human needs, we do have a bigger purpose in life; after all, you weren't put on this planet for an ordinary reason.

No matter how big or small your purpose is, remember that you were meant to be here, even when you fall off track. Falling off track can cause people to lose their sense of direction in life, which can feel a lot like holding no real sense of purpose leading towards a downward spiral of negativity and self-doubt.

However, it’s a personal choice whether or not you wish to pursue your life with purpose. Truth be told, some people can’t be bothered (and that’s totally okay too). But if you’re looking for more happiness, meaning and fulfillment in life, it's time to get you on the road to your purpose!

The first step in this discovery is to acknowledge your purpose: you know you were put on this earth for a reason, now it’s time to acknowledge your purpose so you can feel happy and fulfilled. But it won’t be easy, this can involve some work, soul searching, and a lot of trial and error, so buckle up! The key is to never give up and always have faith in your purpose, even when life gets you down; some people find their purpose at an early age, whereas others don’t discover it until they’re much older. We all move at our own pace so it's important to never compare yourself to anyone else, you are your biggest competitor.

Second off, you will need to answer this question to yourself truthfully, and you might have to spend some time digging for a genuine answer, sleep on it, think long and hard about it, whenever it's right for you, but you'll know:

If you didn’t have to worry about money, or pleasing everyone else, how would you spend your time? Who and where would you be right now if those factors weren’t an issue? If that is something you have never thought about, or avoided, maybe it’s time to pause and take a deep look inside and ask yourself the question: what do I really want?

Once you can truthfully answer that question to yourself, you can start taking the right steps towards your purpose:

Simple tips to achieving a more purposeful life

  • Get to know your true self

  • Go with your gut

  • Be honest at all costs

  • Act today, not tomorrow

  • Take small steps everyday to work towards your goals

  • Focus on one thing at a time

  • Remind yourself that only you know what’s best for you

  • Start looking at obstacles as signs

  • Have faith in the universe and yourself

I’m a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason: good or bad,  although we may not always understand why. Change happens so better things can fall into place, and those better things will help shift you back on the path of fulfilling your purpose. I may not be able to tell you what your purpose is, but I can provide the tools and insight you need to take with you everyday so you can truly discover it:

4 ways to make your life more meaningful

  1. Belonging: find your people

  2. Health: what can you do to start feeling better right now

  3. Wealth: work hard to live comfortably, this looks different for everyone

  4. Purpose: now take action and go find it

Once you are able to determine your passions and goals you can take positive steps each day that will get you closer to achieving your unique purpose in life.
